Well, I am going to go out on a limb with a wild guess...I think because they are harder to raise, i.e. get started feeding as babies, and are prone to a disorder called zonata disease, that is why they are not more popular in the trade. Also for the most part in California they are extremely restricted, except I think for algama.

Because of the above issues I keep pyros instead.
