Those are nice cages. They do work well.

You can purchase a ready-made strip of 4-inch-wide Flexwatt online and tape that to the bottom of the cage floor across the width of the cage near the back wall. That will give the snake enough heated area while leaving plenty of non-heated area. It allows you to place a hide partially over the heat so the snake can hide and either rest on the heat or off it or partially on/off. Most of the time snakes like cornsnakes do the partial thing, but of course they do whatever they need to achieve their desired result.

If the heat pad is your only source of heat, then an 8x12 mat is plenty, or the flexwatt strip mentioned above. If using supplemental heat, like a light above, then the heat mat can even be smaller. Alot depends on your ambient temps. Make sure to use a temperature controller.
