Yeah, she died about 3 weeks after her 8th birthday.

She'd never laid a clutch of eggs til this July. She got out 17 and was just too exhausted to pass the remaining 10. She had a great vet working on her: aspirated the eggs, dosed her up with great pain meds, fluids and antibiotics, gave her 48 hours to start passing them, then went in to take them out and in the process, found a large area of necrotic tissue near her cloaca. Aida made through surgery but didn't make it through the night.


On a more interesting note (and less of a buzz-kill), that photo isn't actually the one I was referring to, even though it matches my request perfectly I had forgotten that photo existed. The one I was thinking of is almost the same but doesn't have the dollar bill and the green towel is darker and has a waffle-like pattern. Not a complaint, I'm still amazed you found that photo! I really couldn't be happier.
