Thank you, I looked up the original paper. Whats interesting is they called the difference, semispecies, in reference to these animals.
Basically they stated the azygous scales were NOT clinal. So that validated the separation. But as mentioned in the paper, there are westerns within the range of Mexicans and visa versa.
As a field herper, that does little good.
I imagine Mtdna will soon either change or validate the binomial names, or not. Thank you again
