Is there any rhyme or reason as to why some Lystrophis pulcher retain their nice red, black and white colors, and others lose one of the dominant colors? I have seen several that have lost the red and are essentially black with white bands. My female, on the other hand, is losing the white bands and is almost completely black with red bands.

Anyone have any insight?
