Hi all,

Do any of you have any pictures of an egg tooth (or lack of an egg tooth) on a lizard, snake, or amphisbaenian during or immediately after hatching? My colleagues and I are collating available data on egg teeth to try to determine whether it is present in live-bearing species specifically, but we are also interested to see if there are examples of egg-laying species that do not utilize an egg tooth. In other words, have live-bearing species lost egg teeth, or are they even required for hatching out of an egg? If you are interested in contributing, please send an email with a photo, a short description including species identification, and your name to james dot vandyke@sydney dot edu dot au. We won't be using many photos in a publication, but we will credit your contribution. Please feel free to share with anyone who might be able to help.

Thanks,
