Normally I would not worry much about plant toxicity with most plants for panther's, unless you were talking about something that was toxic to their skin, (i.e. poison ivy or poison sumac etc.) from just a quick google for mountain laurel I did find it is a close relative of rhododendrons/azaleas and has some similar toxic qualities.

While panthers, tend to not consume plant material and what anecdotal evidence I have found of them consuming plant material involves the fruit of Lantana camera (which is quite toxic.) I would tend to shy away from the mountain Laurel from what I gleaned from first glance.

You can always go with scheffleras or ficus for good stand-by's. Personally I like coffee plants as they can tolerate low light (brighter indoor light, ie sunny room) better than a lot of plants and they can handle a lot of moisture.

I have a bigger list of plants I use but I live in fl. and have different criteria than most since most of the plants used by people in colder climates will quickly outgrow my out door cages. the 3 species I listed for you are a good start how ever.
