Scott,
I also have an addiction to Philodendrons sp., Alocasia sp., and Platycerium sp. The above picture is from one of my favorites Philodendrons sp. I normally cut the leaf and let it dry until it turns completely brown (10 days ). I like to use the leaf as a background as it tends to enhance the color.

Here is another example using the same background - Honduran FireBelly boa (Boa c. imperator).
