Hi there, I have a 3ish year old Lewisi cross that I procured from a great lady coming up on a year ago. I think she even posted about him here- his name is Eddie. Healthy, gorgeous, and beginning to really calm down. My question is- he enjoys using a pig blanket/Kane type heater at night; will avoid even ceramic elements like the plague when going to sleep. Is it ok to leave it on a 'daytime' temperature at night? It fluctuates between 92-94 at hottest if I don't manually readjust the thermostat every night. Is this a temperature that is safe for him to fall asleep on? He has access to basking sites between 90-120 during the day, I just wonder about him falling asleep and not moving off of it if he gets too warm. Is that a safe 'belly' temp that won't burn him?
Secondarily, he lives in a modified walk in closet right now which does great. I'd like to build a cage that can stand alone, as I think we'll be moving in several months. Any tips on building a 6'/4'/4' or 6'/3'/3 or so box that is accessible and easy to build? I am not expecting it to be a permanent home as he is growing and we'll be moving cross-country in a few years. Anyway, I am not power tool savvy, but I can wield a drill and the easy stuff. Any tips would be welcome.
Thanks!
