MY DAILY NEWS (Tweed Heads, Australia) 09 December 13 Cane toads: Killing them kindly and stopping the spread (Warren Lynam)
New methods to control cane toads will be revealed by a Sydney researcher at a seminar in Murwillumbah on Wednesday, December 11.
He will focus on methods which can be used by everyone from farmers and planners to domestic households.
The methods will be compliant with current NSW standards.
Dr Matt Greenlees will speak at the Murwillumbah Civic Centre's Canvas and Kettle Room about cane toad biology, their impact on native fauna and ways to control and eradicate the invasive species.
Council's Pest Management Program Leader, Pam Gray, said he would describe the latest techniques being used and detail how residents can potentially adopt them to control cane toads in the Tweed.
Dr Greenlees is a member of the University of Sydney laboratory conducting the research under the direction of Professor Rick Shine.
The seminar is being held from 10 am to noon
Numbers are limited at the seminar, so RSVPs are required by contacting Ms Gray on (02) 6670 2778 to book a seat.
