That is so not very normal. You do understand, monitors are living beings and behavior is a response to the conditions around them.

So to start you may want to show how your keeping them. Also where did they come from. If they were abused before you obtained them, you should not expect anything different.

When obtaining monitors, First they go into shock. They turn in behaviorally. Then if conditions are good, strike out at what offends them. Then if kept well, return to normal.

Also well kept monitors feed well. To a point of insanity, So its your task to educate them on what is food and what is not.

Anyway, the relationship between the keeper and the kept is based on TRUST. You have to behave in a way the animal trusts you. Best of luck and post some pics.
