I've been using cypress for many years now. However, you must watch what you buy. If you go to Lowe's or Wal-Mart to obtain your cypress, it's a mulch mixture. In other words it contains other item that you don't need! Some have added pesticides and fertilizers as well as herbicides. Be sure that what you purchase is 100% PURE Cypress! It cost more, works better, and is not harmfull to your snakes. I breed GTP's and Bloods. And to me the pure cypress is the only way to go! As this material dries out you can watch it change colors. Thus giving a good indication as to the level of humidity in your snakes enclosure. It does not mold or mildew or rot. I'd advise on giving it a try and see what you think. Hope this helps. Andy
