Hey Frank,
Just out of curiosity, what was the ambient temps that day? It is funny how many people confuse surface basking temps with ambient air temps. Got into a bit of an argument with someone over this. They said that the species they keep comes from an area where the average temperature is 85 degrees and that if they are kept with a basking temperature higher than that, they will not do well. My argument was that they can offer a hotter basking spot well into the 90's and offer them a proper gradient. This will widen the snakes options. As in most cases, it seems to fall on deaf ears and the some of the people involved in the thread refuse to believe that the ambient air temps are that much different from the basking areas and that the snakes would not use those basking areas anyway.
