Oh my god, you have to ask that. Google it up, easy to do. Its a matter of local and two scale types. One is clinal the other is not. The paper called them semi-species. Hey, don't yell at me, I didn"t write it.
On the otherhand, as would be expected from any animal that occurs a hundreds of miles apart. Westerns from the northeast part of their range, and kennerlyi from the southwest part of hognose range. They are indeed behaviorally unique.
Also, in the future, the names will be changing like crazy, so I would not let that bother you. No matter what names they have or will have, the snakes are exactly the same.
