Hey y'all! A few questions and background. I have a new 4-5" female Croc skink I just ordered. She's in a 15gal with coco fiber bedding and some features for hiding/bathing and a non-heat day lamp with UVB (too hot for heat lamp). First question: Do they require UVB? I've heard mixed reports that it unnecessary but can't hurt to have mostly because she hides all day out of the light. I have a crestie and chubby frog who don't need it regularly.
Also I've heard these cool little dudes are "boring" ie they don't move much and are nocturnal or dusk/dawn if/when they're active. She'll sit in one place in the same position for hours at a time and it kinda freaks me out. She's so new I don't know what temperament I should expect even though I've heard this is typical. She does scamper when startled, plays dead as I have heard they do and I think she's eating since 1 or 2 crickets have vanished from the tank. Just some insight on what to expect behavior-wise--how does your skink usually act? What setups do you have that could make her happiest? Is UVB necessary? Thanks for any help and comments!
