Hello all,

Ive been keeping/breeding snakes for many years now and have always wanted an Eastern indigo in my collection but for one reason or another I've never managed to make it happen.

Well it looks like I'm about to have a pair of mexi red tail indigos coming up soon and thought I would reach out for any advice I might find here that I didn't on the websites around.

These will be yearlings and my plan is for them to each have a 4x2x2 cage that I can heat in whatever way needed. Currently Im using an UTH s well as a heat bulb directly above a large water dish for rainbow boas and obviously that will change for indigos but I wanted to illustrate the flexibility of the caging.

They are feeding on FT rats and I plan on varying that with some quail and maybe fish. I used to keep e. murinus and I still think that the feces from an anaconda after eating fish has to be one of the grossest things on the planet. lol I suppose every few months it wouldn't be too bad if it's really needed.

I plan on keeping the temps on the low end with the gradient only getting to the low 80's on the hot side. I have a programmable controller so I can facilitate a nighttime drop as well.

After they get a bit bigger I'll probably pick up a 6x2x2 or else an 8x2x2 for their final caging but I want to get to know them a bit more before purchasing an adult cage.

I;m not really asking a specific question but am instead inquiring about any quirks or tidbits of knowledge that other keepers can pass my way regarding this species.
