Hi. I feel horrible for the mistake I've made and the little guy is paying for it. yesterday I put my sons small map turtle in a kiddie pool outside. I did not add water to it but had it in partial shade and partial sun. A while later (an hour ??) I went to check on him and the shade was gone! The poor thing was in pure sun for who knows how long!! His shell looked very dry and he his skin looked dry too (starting to show white on the wrinkles) as I picked him up he trembled. I felt horrible. I brought him in and dripped a couple drops of water on his shell and gently rubbed water over his limbs and head. It looked like gooey stuff was on the corners of his mouth, it had a tinge of red color (blood?!?!) he was not responding much to my touch and it didn't look like he was breathing. I put him on his dock and left him to rest. After about half an hour he was blinking again and breathing again. I placed him on the ground to see of he would walk since he usual likes to walk around and explore. He did so, but very slowly. It looked like his back legs were limp. They dragged behind him as he walked. To play it safe I made a temporary shallow "tank" for him. I didn't want to risk letting him try to swim and having him drown. This morning his back legs look like they are working again. He's walking all around the floor exploring again. Problem is, when I put him back on his rock in his tank, he jumped in to swim and stayed down on the bottom. It looked like his mouth was stuck open, it looked like he was screaming. I wondered if he was vomiting, but I have no idea how to tell. Nothing was coming out. When he would close his mouth his whole body would jerk backwards. I got scared and took him out after a minute of this. I have him back out on the floor. He seemed normal when i placed him on the ground. He was exploring again, but I am scared to put him back in his tank. I don't know what that weird "screaming" and body jerking movement was. Is he slowly dieing? I really hope he is going to be ok, I feel so incredibly guilty.
