Corn Snake Drooling?

I found a corn snake today in my yard and after holding it for a while it began to drool. It did not puke any food up, and it was certainly drool - or at least looked just like it. Does anyone here know what may cause this to happen? I have never seen any snake do something similar to this before and am intrigued as to what it could be.
