If you have used DE (diatomaceous earth) with your snakes before, please let me know if they did or did not suffer bad effects from the DE.
A quick definition for those who don't know what DE is: It is basically extremely small rock particles, small enough to not injure earthworms or anything bigger, but rough enough to scratch through the shells of bugs like mites and fleas, which kills them.
DE is a very useful substance in controlling mites and fleas in chicken yards and dog runs. I am considering using it with my Ball Pythons to make a mite problem (inherited from a previous owner) go away. The reason for this post is that my logical brain pointed out to me that snakes, with their tight spaces between scale and skin, might not share the same immunity to bad effect as the chickens and dog, all of whom find great pleasure rolling around in it. This means I must ask for details from those more experienced people who have practical experience in this area.
