Reason being is that they do not do well in captivity for most people. Obviously, that is not the snakes fault. Most people just don't offer them what they need. If you are not well versed in snake husbandry that exceeds the "standard" way of keeping, chances are an Eastern will not do well in your collection. Go for the king. It will make for a much better captive and will withstand minimal husbandry that would otherwise kill an Eastern hog.
