I live in south Florida and i used to live right next to a canal for several years. I know exactly how you feel about pesky bugs. I suggest you buy either a bug zapper or buy a scented strip that repels insects. Also try to not turn on any lights outside your door.

And about your lizard request there is no guarantee that the lizard will stay on your property.
