I live in the southern portion of California's Central Valley, in Bakersfield. My front porch and back porch is absolutely inundated with flies from Spring through Summer. Further complicating things is that we have a few cats that we let outside when we can and leave the door open so that they can come back in when they want. This means we get tons of flies (and gnats, and mosquitoes, and moths, and.....) inside our house all the time.

What I would like is a lizard or two that I can set loose in my back yard to help keep the insect population in check. We have a rather large backyard with lots of vegetation around. There is already a small population of frogs and lizards that I see from time to time but they just aren't doing a well enough job. I don't want to spray insecticides because of our cats (and the other lizards and frogs). Are there any suggestions for what I could get?

Some quick specs - Summer is really hot here. Months at a time of 90F and roughly half the time it's 100F with a max around 110F . Winters are mostly dry (we are in a huge drought) and can get down to around the low 30's in the winter (at night).
