I purchased the aluminum box, the PID controller, sensor and (can't see) the solid state relay inside from auber instruments. I did the wiring myself, really fun project.

Probably costs close to what you can buy off-the-shelf from herp dealers when all costs are added for chassis, SSR, controller, sensor and power cords. Nevertheless, this baby holds temperature like a dream and has safety features such as sensor break and internal fuse. Also, it can go from PID control to ON/OFF by changing the output control via the keypad, so you can use it for heat tape or lights. It displays both setpoint temp and actual temp.

This pic is when I had a type K thermocouple being used as the sensor input. I just changed it to a PT100 RTD sensor because it is more flexible for herp applications.

If anyone is interested in doing something like this, feel free to contact me if you have questions. I have made 3 of these so far, and they work unbelievably well.
