Heck if I know, hahahahahaha, four out of six copulated right away, and are all doing well. One may be a little small/young the other not sure about.
As you can tell, hognose are goofy snakes. Their reproductive process is indeed odd.
I love your experiment and hope to keep hearing about it. The cold this time of year in captivity is a wonderful choice.
I say that because its how they work in nature. Most other species, seek heat in early spring to jump start the reproductive process. I have millions of pics and videos of other reptiles doing that. Hognose, they stay down in the cold dirt, until AFTER they lay eggs.
Also when I first came here, I asked a lot of questions and a number of people reported having their hogs lay eggs in hibernation. So yes, your work is very interesting. I thank you for having the fortitude to give it a go.
