With rainbows, the temp and humidity requirements mean there really is no "cheap" way to house them: you have to invest whatever it takes to keep those temps between 82F warm end and 72 low end, and that often means a good thermostat and sometimes an air conditioner. For the enclosure itself, however, try craigslist to see if anyone is unloading a used Boaphile or Animal Plastics model -- those are the best vendors for the plastic enclosures these snakes like. Make sure to disinfect carefully before using it though. You can always use a tub as a temporary, grow-up measure, and transition to an adult enclosure later...but don't keep a rainbow in one for their entire life, particularly if trying to breed. They deserve more respect than that.

also, what is a good yet cheep way to house them?
