There are WAY too many animals in rescues and shelters to be producing more litters. I personally think all breeding should be limited to keeping the breed alive and in as perfect speciman as possible, until the surplus of homeless pets has a dent put in it. Unfortunately, there is no way to make that happen. While I agree some professional, responsible breeding needs to take place to maintain the breed, I feel more breeding is going on than necessary which is resulting in many fine pets being destroyed for lack of homes. I will continue adopting from shelters and rescues, as I can not justify purchasing a dog from a breeder for these reasons.



Another HUGE responsibility of a good breeder is the care they take in placing their pups in homes. Let's face it, a doberman in the wrong hands for the wrong reasons can spell trouble. Many people want them for status or attention, without regard for their true inner qualities.



Let's just take care of the homeless ones first. They are living their lives in cages with minimal attention and many are losing their lives simply because no one wants them.
