Oh, I am so embarrassed but also very relieved!

Turns out I was mistaking fat for a new bump. Boy, did I feel silly. I actually stood there and tried to persuade the vet that there was something strange. However, she showed me that the "growth" was also on the other side. Once my rational mind kicked in, I realized that he does weigh more than he ever has and that I've never seen him heavy. Also, when I found the "growth", he was laying at a angle.

We went ahead and did a needle biopsy on another, older bump up by the site of his mast cell removal. All fatty cells. Hallelujah!

So I was worried for nothing but I at least I know it was nothing.

Thank you all for being so supportive.

As for his weight, we've been in the process of changing kibble and I had started using the new kibble as everyday rewards. I finally compared the nutrient analysis of the kibble and the treats--big difference. I've cut down what I'm feeding which I should have realized to do from the start. Yesterday was our first day entirely on the new kibble so I should be getting the new proportions figured out soon. He just needs to drop 2-3 pounds. At the last visit he weighed less than he had in a long time--playing with a greyhound is great exercise! So clearly I had overcompensated.

Geez, what a day! By the time we left the vet, everyone had had a good laugh--except Harvey. He still had a needled poked in him after all. I played an extra long time with him when we got home to make it up to him...

Again, thanks for the thoughts!
