Here's a tale (maybe should say tail....or lack thereof) for my Shiba friends. A mystery, at least. On Sunday evening, sometime between 7:00 and 11:00, an event took place on our patio. When we took Murphy out, before bed, there was a dead squirrel there. It's tail was gone! There was, however, a whole lot of fur from the missing tail. No blood, no other signs of a struggle, and the fur was ...pretty much all in one place....about a foot in front of the body. We didn't hear any sounds of any kind. We have a 6 foot, chain link fence, so something climbed or jumped over it......or maybe flew? We can't figure out why any predator would leave everything but the tail, unless we interrupted something still in progress. We don't think so, though, because the squirrel was no longer warm.....we picked it up with a plastic bag.
