Have a urine analysis done to determine this, and to make sure there is no infection. Keeping the urine dilute will prevent crystal formation and dissolve crystals already formed. So add water to the food, as well as salt to encourage even more water intake. The diet for a dog should be mostly animal origin, but due to the liver shunt, you want to keep the protein level fairly low. Your dog would probably do best with ground meat or chicken, bones included, with added fat to loer the protein level, along with fresh vegetables for nutrients and fiber, along with fish oil and plain yogurt or probiotic.
