I would definately seperate the injured fish. Do you have a cycled tank ready that you can move him to? If not, then maybe a divider in your tank.

Melafix can help with the healing process. Just be sure to follow directions regarding the amount to add to the tank. If anything, err on the side of caution by putting and less then more. You can use it for about 10 days or so.
