if you are really sure its an injury and not disease then keeping the fish in really clean water with some salt added should aid its recovery. you could try salting to .1% which is 1 level teaspoon of aquarium salt per gallon and then again in 12 hours time to get to a .2% solution. This should hopefully aid the fishes recovery.
if its a disease then we would need to know the size of tank, filtration, tank mates, cleaning routine and test results for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph.
