Hey everyone. I just moved into a gorgeous apartment complex near Portland OR and there is a big pond on premesis. Im going to be here for over a year and I thought it would be a good project (and look good on the resume) to help clean it up and improve the look. Its huge, has reeds and other stuff growing on the banks, had goldfish and crawdads in it right now, and is VERY muddy! its not algae murk, its brown and dirty and muddy. It is a manmade pond and runs at a pretty good clip (pumps), but has no filtration I assume.

I need help in, first off, clearing up the water. What is the most cost effective way of doing this? Draining the lake and cleaning it? (its not got a cement bottom, its soil and rocks) Or installing a filter in the pumps somewhere. Also, are there any animals or plants that can speed the process along?

Ideally, I want to have frogs, koi, lillypads, and anything else that goes well along with them. Thanks for your help everyone, any info you can give me would be great!!
