Got a 35gal pond, never had a filter for it yet. The water looks natural, although 'I want to be able to see the fish', to make the water really clear. The pond has a lot of plants, although all floating, which may be adding a lot of algae too.

So today I bought a 5w Fountain Container Kit, with a filter. Put it in but nothing. Water looks the same. Also tried some Accu-clear. To no avail.

My question is, what's a really good filter, relatively inexpensive, that I can find to give this pond 'that sparkling look?' Moreover, how do I get rid of algae. There's not much of this, however, because the pond is hardly in the sun.
