Hi All ! My name is Kali and I am a newbie here. I am looking for some advice about what to do with a Shubunkin we have in our pond. It is one of our original fish purchased about 4 years ago. Our pond is about 2500 gals and at the moment is home to about 17 (5 of which are our own babies comets). We winter over (on the MA/NH line) in New England and have only had trouble with sick fish once last year when we had one of our other Shubunkins get 'pinecone'!

This guy started swelling early this spring. I expected him to expire quickly and tested our water to make sure all levels were good. They were. He is still with us. He eats, swims (a bit crooked) and behaves as all our well fish do. Still very social, good appitite, the only issue is with his ability to swim normal. I was advised to remove him before he got the others sick, and didnt. He really seems healthy all summer except for his (tumor?) I am guessing that is what his promlem is, but I am not sure what to do now that winter is around the corner and it is time to get ready for the long winter freeze. I dont imagine he can survive the winter, cant imagine he has survived all summer. I dont think I should leave him in the pond I am afraid of what I would find come the spring thaw.

That said, Im not sure how to handle things now.

Help anyone?
