I have had koi, goldfish, and channel catfish in my 4 1/2 foot deep pond for 4 years now, and all were doing great. All of a sudden I'm finding dead koi, and channel cats on the surface. I'm talking about 17-19 inch fish who have been living very well in the pond for years. What is wrong here? Do I need more oxygen in the water? I have 2 suspicions why this has happened:
-1.the weather has been unseasonably shifty. There was really warm days out of nowhere then it would get cold as hell soon after. Perhaps these shifts stressed the fish and eventually killed them.
-2.We had a leak a few months back and kept refilling the pond before we finally found the leak and fixed it. Maybe the unusual amount of change in water shocked the fish. We did de-chlorinate(spelling?) the water with everyu refill however.
Any suggestions?
