Hi I have an existing pond with under 500 gallons with several turtles and too many goldfish. I have a pump that is rated at 1500 GPH but I read that the rating can drop by 40% when combined with a pressure filter (which I have).



What is the recommended turn over - or how many times per hour should my >500 gallons flow through the filter? I saw somewhere once per hour but I also thought someone told me that considering the excess of life in my pond it should be 3 times per hour.



I'm considering getting a new pump that is rated at 2250 gallons per hour. I'm also giving away some of my fish soon.
