I started my 2000 gal pond last April so this is my first winter in NJ with the fish. I have the floting heater going so theres a hole in the ice and the fish seem fine. I plan on doing a major cleaning this spring and will remove the fish before I do this. I would assume that I should wait a while as they come out of their winter slumber. Is there a time period that anyone can suggest? Should they be eating for a while to get back their strength? I don't want to stress them anymore than necessary. I also have frogs and snails in there but I don't know their status. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks
