Posted by: Shubunkin at Tue Mar 9 17:39:35 2010 [ Report Abuse ] [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by Shubunkin ] Can someone tell me how Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate affect pH in a freshwater aquarium (if at all)? I’m assuming that Ammonia NH3 would raise the pH since it is a base. But water that hasn’t been changed in a long time seems to exhibit high ammonia levels and LOW ph! So I’m confused (as usual) and what about the others? I have many boring reasons for wanting to know this which I won’t bother all of you with, lol! Thanks in advance for straightening me out!
