I have a beta fish who appears healthy. He has a bubble nest, the water evaporates a bit quickly and the bubble nest leaves a film on the tank. So I thought nothing of it.

But today I took a closer look. There were all these white floaty flakes in the water and this white build up that looked alot like nasty soap scum all over the filter and side of the tank. I promptly put him in a container and cleaned it out with hot water and then gave it a good scrubing with vinegar and rinsed it with more hot water. I replaced the filter and put hot water in the tank. I'm going to wait a day to let the filter run and the water cool.

Can anyone tell me what this is? Here are some links of photos I took.
