I had to move some fish before. This is how I did it:
1) Keep all your water, but to move it keep it in empty water/milk jugs. If you use milk jugs, make sure you rinse them at least 3 times, but more is better. Transport all of it with you to prevent having to recycle. Do this the day of moving too.

2) You can put your fish (if they are small) in a ziplock plastic container like you would put your leftovers in. Poke small holes in the top to allow slow oxygen diffusion. The taller the better to let your fish swim around a little.

3) Put all items in car, and move fish. Then empty all the water containers, and finally your fish. However, you will need to acclimate them again because the water temperature may have changed.
