Hello! I ~think~ this is okay with the TOS: I'm looking for general advice on how to be a decent betta vendor at a pet show. Not trying to sell online or direct people to my table! So I'm not going to say the name of the show or anything.

In May (5 months) I am thinking of selling bettas at a local pet hobbyist show. I sell other animals (not fish) that I breed myself, but am thinking of collaborating with a betta breeder to add bettas to my table. I don't plan on making a profit, my intent is to have fun and, most of all, make quality, fancy bettas a little more accessible to the general public. If there were a betta seller at the show I wouldn't try it, but there's not!

I've been talking with the breeder some, but she is very busy and all advice is appreciated. It's my understanding that 4"x4"x8" beanie baby containers make good displays, since they are flat-sided and you can place males next to each other to get them to flare But I think if sold the fish should be transferred to a bag? I don't want to encourage people to keep their bettas in the beanie case permanently! Or should I offer the choice of purchasing the container too, as they might be a more convenient form of transport? (it would be at least an extra $3 since that's what they cost)

I also plan to have a free caresheet, but the breeder can provide me with the template for that Links to your favorite caresheets are still welcome, though!

What terms and guarantees is it customary to provide for bettas? 1 month health? Live delivery and that's it? What sort of things would you want a table vendor to know or do? I'm not the breeder myself, I just like to have my single male betta, and I'm not too familiar with aquarium culture, but I have time to learn.

Thanks!
