A family-owned pet store near me has recently gotten some fiddler crabs, and it looks like they'll be getting more soon (there was one male left when I was there, and he looked very happy and healthy sitting on his rock out of the water). I can't find much on their care, except that they need brackish water and somewhere to rest on land. I know them to be excellent scavengers and hunters (we had a female in a freshwater setup when I was a kid and she caught and ate three of my angelfish) so food won't be a problem, what with there being fish, lizards, and land hermit crabs already in the house.

Is there some sort of ratio for males to females that will keep the males from killing each other, or does anything go? Should I provide a molting area so they won't cannibalize each other (like land hermit crabs)? Do have a preferred substrate for molting in?

Please provide any information on their care and behavior, as every little bit helps. Thanks!
