Unique recommendations for small tank

I'm looking to start up my tank again but am having trouble deciding what to put in there. I have a 12gallon, vertical hexagon tank, which rules out a LOT of interesting fish who need more horizontal swim space. This tank was a custom build for sea horses when my mom had them about 10 years ago.

I love sea horses and we had good luck with them in this set up, but I have been unable to find a good source of tank bred specimens here in Los Angeles. I'm hesitant to have any shipped since it stresses them and I would be purchasing unseen stock, but if anyone has recommendations for a good seahorse mail order place, I'm open!

I had a lot of fun with a baby humpback turretfish (box fish) in this set up as well, but haven't been able to find them again locally.

Any suggestions for unique creatures that would be suitable for this tank? I'm burnt out on the usual clownfish, gobie, tang, damsel types. I would say my level of experience is intermediate, as my mother owned an aquarium business while i was growing up. I learned a lot from her and what I don't know, I can ask!
Thanks or any thoughts!
