Some herbalists claim they even have some minor bacteria fighting properties. Many birds even picky ones seem to enjoy picking the little "petals" off flowers and will eat them even when they are too picky to try other foods. So yes feed them to your lovie to your hearts content. He may enjoy playing with them or eating them and can get a little more vitamin A and calcium in the process (along with a bunch of other nutrients!)
