Hi again LOL! We are owned by a female Vos eclectus. We took her into our home when she was eight, we have had her for four years. She was completely bald when we adopted her (except her red head) and now will let "some" of her feathers regrow. She is very hormonal during breeding season. She will try to make a nest anywhere possible whether under her own cage, the edge of the couch, behind a couch cushion, under a towel or in a paper sack. We try to keep her away from anything possibly resembling a hiding spot during breeding season. During this time she also becomes less friendly and will nip (not bite but nip hard enough to let you know she is warning you). She does get along with most people. She is only "cuddly" to a select few but seems to tolerate attention from most. She likes to sit on a persons lap and just "be with them".

Her cage is quite large for climbing. She is not really open to learning tricks. She had never been taught to step up and just recently has started doing it regularly on command. You could pick her up or she would come over and climb onto your lap but she wouldn't step onto a hand or perch unless forced to. Now she does it on request. You do have to realize the ones we have in our family are not necessarily normal circumstances, most are adopted and many started with behaviorial or health issues. Hers was the plucking but also never really being worked with.

Her diet is mainly fresh or sprouted foods. When eating pellets she plucks much more so we only feed them if we absolutely have to (very, very seldom). Mainly they are used if a family member has to watch them for a few days who doesn't have a good schedule to feed her the fresh. She eats a wide variety of foods and a seed mix we make ourselves. She has mostly stopped plucking but as I said she is still partially bald due to follicle damage.

She does talk and has a wide variety of phrases, words etc. Her voice sounds like a "southern belle" LOL. Kind of the soft throaty flirty voice you hear on older movies. We have had several others through the rescue both that do talk and ones that don't.
