It seems to be common for the female to pluck the male. I would keep a close eye on both of them to try to see if this is the case. If the female is indeed plucking the male they will need to be separated as they have been known to mutilate their mates/cagemates enough to cause open wounds which won't heal. If the female is not plucking the male he could have an infection or bacteria etc that is causing him to lose his feathers or to pluck them himself which isn't quite as common in lovebirds but can still definitely happen.
