Today I heard a strange bird calling in the garden, I went looking for it to find a little budgie sat on the drive looking lost. I got within a foot of it before my cat leapt out of nowhere and got the poor guy, I quickly got it back off her, it seems fine aside from being a bit ruffled and a few missing tail feathers, no blood or cuts visible. I'v put up an add in the local shop so hopefully the owner will call, but what do I do with it until then?

It's currently sitting in a small cat box with a bamboo stick for a perch and a saucer of water. I'v given it some sunflower hearts, a piece of pepper and a strawberry, so far it's only nibbled a few sunflower hearts, but it seems active enough? It does an alarm call(?) if I get too close but then quites down, it sleeps a lot and it sang a few notes too.

I know nothing about these guys, what do I feed it until its owners show up? And what equipement will it need if they dont? Is there anything I need to do, or defiantly should not do? It seems calm enough around people, but I dont know if it's male or female, it's cere is light purplish and smooth, I dont know how old it is or anything. It sure is beautiful though!

Thanks in advance for any help or advice!
