I have a Pekin duck who is about 3 months old and lives on my patio with three rabbits. I have two questions: first, my duck prefers to eat canned carrots, corn and peas; chopped romaine lettuce and endives; oyster shell and small pellet dog food. He does not like mash pellets, seeds and especially cracked corn. I do take him for walks so he can root in the grass for whatever he can find. Is this a healthy diet for him (he does seem to thrive on it but he's always hungry)? Secondly, lately when I come to him he flattens his whole body against the ground and sticks his neck and head out flat, also. He then waits for me to pick him up before he resumes his normal behavior. Why does he do this? This is my first duck (we got him as a rescue from a city park) so I'm flying blind here. sal9945@yahoo.com
