I found my five month old Peking Duck in the front yard yesterday morning. She had a small smear of blood on her back and was unable to stand. Her mate also had blood on his back but was quacking loudly and agitated. I could find no brken bones or cuts or broken skin on her. Her eyes are clear, she is drinking well, her feet are warm but she is unable to balance herself to stand. I have given her vitamins in her water and chopped dandelions and tomatoes in addition to her pellets. She is not eating well but she is eating some. She rolls from her stomach to her back but then can't roll back over. Earlier today she was rolling more to get around to her food and drink. I have her in the barn with her mate who dotes on her laying on a bed of hay. She does not appear to be in pain and does not have diarrhea. This evening I did notice a knot on her back. It does not appear to cause her discomfort. Could her back be broken? She can move her head and rear. To groom herself she twists her tail around to balance her body. Would it be more humane to put her out of her misery? She looks pitiful rollong around. I thought at first she was in shock. How long would that last? She is quacking hoarsely when spoken to but is quiet mostly. Any advice would be appreciated!
