Japanese buying horses from U.S. auction
Message from Marlys Hanson to Tom Durfee of the Laughing Horse Sanctuary.
(Thanks, Tom, for sending this around, it’s real important information)

Apr 06 2005 / 19:02:19

Just a quick note to say that at the Waverly Horse Auction
there were Japanses gentlemen there buying horses for food. These were not
the slaughter horses that come at the end of the auction. They were fat and
shiney, in show condition. This is due to the embargo against U.S beef
imports I hope the owners of these horses know what they were bound for.
